Why Japanese Companies May Consider a U.S. IPO as a Pathway to Raising Capital

On September 16, 2026, a representative of our firm and I had the opportunity to attend the Japan Go IPO Summit 2026 in Tokyo. We met company executives, investors, capital market professionals and advisors involved in the IPO market, and had the opportunity to hear different perspectives on the U.S. capital markets.

Before attending the event, I had the impression that many Japanese companies had already established strong positions in the global market and were competing at a high level internationally. However, after listening to people involved in the IPO market, I realized that there is still room for Japanese companies to grow further. In particular, looking beyond the domestic market and taking advantage of international opportunities can be an important part of a company’s next stage of growth.

Japan already has one of the world’s largest and most established economies. At the same time, Japanese startups and technology companies are looking for opportunities to expand internationally. For some companies, significant capital may be needed to expand their business, enter overseas markets and achieve further growth. For these companies, the U.S. capital markets may be one option to consider, and a U.S. IPO can be a pathway to raising capital and reaching a broader group of investors.

However, as I listened to the discussions at the summit, it also became clear to me that entering the U.S. IPO market requires thorough preparation.

Financial reporting and internal controls may need to be strengthened. Corporate governance may need to be reviewed. Management also needs to think about how to clearly communicate its business, growth strategy and future vision to investors. And the work does not end after the IPO. The company needs to continue meeting financial reporting, disclosure and internal control requirements.

This made me realize how important it is to have the right team from the beginning — a team that understands the company, supports management from the early preparation stage through the IPO and beyond, and understands the expectations of the global capital market.

As ARIA Audit Corporation, our team hopes to support companies throughout this journey as they move toward their next stage of growth and become long-term participants in the global market.
